Finding Peace

In this hurry up world we live in, so many seem to be going through life without peace. Lives are full of stress, discontent and lack of time. I see it every time I get in my vehicle and leave the house. There is so much hostility and uncontrolled rage on the road and too many people racing to get somewhere without concern for the safety of others.

People have turned to drugs, alcohol and a variety of behaviors which mask the reality of their lives. Depression, anger, insomnia  and other problems are on the rise. What in the world is happening in the lives of people that causes so much upheaval?

Contrasting this with the lives of people who have found peace and contentment in their lives is like comparing day to night. Those who live with peace are calm, quiet in their soul and are joyful and happy. It doesn’t mean that their lives have no problems or frustrations, but it does show they have found a way to handle it.

What is the answer, how do you find peace and contentment? Jesus told us in John 16:33, “In this world, you will have trouble but take heart, I have overcome the world.”

1 Peter 3:9-11 says, “Do not repay evil with evil or insult with insult. On the contrary, repay evil with blessing, because this you were called to do so that you may inherit a blessing. For, whoever would love life and see  good days must keep their tongue from evil and lips from deceitful speech. They must turn from evil and do good, they must seek peace and pursue it.”

God promises us in Philippians 4:7, “And the peace of God which surpasses all understanding will guard your  hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.”

Take some time today to disconnect from this world. Slow down and let go of anger, stress and pain. Breath deep and talk to your Creator, you will be glad you did.
